Public Bids are too Late

Bids funded by stimulus dollars are being posted at agencies web sites by federal state, and local agencies. Some public bids are in an Invitation for Bid (IFB) legal format (fixed price, low bidder wins). IFBs are usually used for construction projects. Bidding for products or service published in a format other than IFB is counterproductive. Why? Because your competitors have:

  • Tracking stimulus funding
  • Determined what contractor has the best shot at winning
  • Sold the end user if there isn't a favorite
  • Sold the favorite on subcontracting if there is a favorite
Public bids are too late in most cases. Only the aggressive direct sellers win in this market. And they usually do it with a GSA schedule contract because the agencies don't have the 200 plus days required for a public bid.
