A final language challenge is that specific types of (Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity) IDIQs have their own acronyms. For example:

• A Government-wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) is a special type of IDIQ contract for acquiring information technology products and services approved by the Office of Management and Budget for use by any federal agency.


• A Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) is an IDIQ type contract with multiple awards used by the military for acquiring facility design, construction, and maintenance services.


• A Single Award Task Order Contract (SATOC) is an IDIQ type contract with a single award used by the military for acquiring facility design, construction, and maintenance services.


• General Services Administration (GSA) Schedules are government-wide IDIQ contracts awarded for a wide range of commercial products and services. The government also refers to GSA schedules as Multiple Award Schedules and Federal Supply Schedules. Although confusing, the use of three terms to mean the same thing is probably not done on purpose. And the federal government wonders why some commercial companies are reluctant to play in the federal market. It can be an intimidating and confusing place, especially for the uninitiated.
