SBA issues update on WOSB implementation

On February 1, 2011 the Small Business Administration (SBA) released a statement outlining its schedule for implementing the recently announced woman-owned small business (WOSB) program.

February 4, 2011 is the watershed date for implementation of the WOSB 8(m) Program. The following will occur on February 4, 2011:

  1. SBA will release instructions on how to participate in the program
  2. SBA will launch the secure, online data repository for WOSBs to upload required documents, on its website
  3. SBA will also release an application to become an SBA-approved third party certifier for this program on that date.

Finally, as past Fedmarket participants and attendees know, WOSBs need to update their status in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and the Online Representation and Certification Application (ORCA) to indicate to contracting officers that they are eligible to participate. Both CCR and ORCA systems are in the process of being updated by GSA. These updates are expected to be completed in April 2011.
